Speed matters
A utility tool should load in under a second and respond to every keystroke instantly.
CharCountOnline started with a small frustration: every time we needed to check the length of a tweet, a meta description or an essay paragraph, the tools we found were slow, cluttered with ads or sent our text to a server somewhere. We wanted the opposite – one clean page that loads instantly, counts accurately and keeps your words on your own device.
So we built it. Our character counter runs entirely in your browser, handles every language and alphabet, and bundles the features writers actually use daily: word and sentence counts, punctuation statistics, word frequency for SEO, letter case conversion and live social media limits.
The site is intentionally simple. No accounts, no paywalls, no dark patterns. We maintain it in four languages – English, Turkish, German and Spanish – and we keep improving it based on the messages readers send us.
A utility tool should load in under a second and respond to every keystroke instantly.
Your text is your business. It never leaves your browser – that's an architecture decision, not just a promise.
Our counting rules follow the same conventions as major word processors, and we test them against tricky cases: emoji, accents, mixed scripts.
Counting characters is a basic need for writers everywhere. It should never sit behind a login or a fee.
